yes, very soon there will be more topics. I was just looking, and last year I had the boat out on the bay on March 2nd. I may be a week later this year, just depending on the weather here. It has been much colder.
OK I will post something. Today I figured out that a loose bolt destroyed my washer-dryer.
You know washing machines sometimes shake like crazy in the spin cycle, right? Well, the drum has a concrete counter-weight to help keep it balanced. It's held on by two bolts, one of which apparently fell out. Eventually the other bolt broke, so the weight fell off. Without the weight for balance, the drum went crazy and bashed into the control panel. As part of the mayhem, something caused a short that burned up the primary power relay and almost started a fire.
Bottom left, concrete counter-weight. Top right, toasted power relay.
Washing machines can be a real pain in the butt. We had a front loader for 14 years that developed a violent shake for 5 seconds. Would vibrate itself across the room. Tried everything. Ended up replacing it with top loaders.
Is it still winter, or is everybody too busy doing spring prep work?
100%. My list is huge, and we're finally getting warm enough here to work on the boat. The big ones this year for me are solar bimini, outdrive steering pin, bellows & gimbal bearing, impeller pump conversion, washdown pump installation, full polish, and maybe new flooring. I also have dozens (upon dozens) of smaller items, but all of them deferrable if I don't get the big ones done. I'll be quite busy right up until splash day, hopefully mid-May, but no later than the 21st for a long holiday weekend on the water.
Me neither, but after watching a couple videos I think it's doable. I'm just praying my gimbal ring is rounded out, as there is a fair amount of slop in the steering.
Replacing the pins was a terrible job with the transom assembly removed from the boat. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be to do it through a tiny access window.

I replaced mine with a stainless steel one ,It was nice but i think it added some extra weight back there that I didn't need if I would do it again I would replace it with the original

Hopefully there will be a lot of activity here shortly, March is right around the corner.
