Engine descaling

Have you guys ever descaled your engine blocks? I ordered 2 gallons of Starbrite engine descaling concentrate. I can’t circulate it since I’m raw water cooled so I plan on using my Camco 5 gallon flush kit and letting it soak for 4-8 hours in the blocks per the instructions.

I’ve used it on generator and did the same thing.  Put it in and let sit for 24 hours (yes it said less, but figured it wouldn’t hurt longer).  Ran noticeably cooler.  I can’t remember the brand, but it was good stuff.  I had to dilute it.  I actually still have some ledt

I did it to my engines last year while the boat was on the hard and one engine was out of the boat, so I circulated. Yea like Dream said I believe they say to leave it 12 or so hours (overnight) when soaking. Circulating is 3-4 hrs so when soaking you need to leave it for a lot longer.

Should I be worried about cleaning out anything that can cause an issue by doing this? I’m probably overthinking but I would hate to cause an issue that wasn’t there.

Before I did my engines (and I used barnacle buster) I did a ton of research on the google. Could only find one guy on the SR site  who was V drive and had a transmission cooler leak after doing it. No proof that BB caused it or not. Could not find any corrosion, seal or clogging or any other issues, really was all good. I cant speak for the WM de scaler but BB is pretty clear on being non corrosive when using it per the instructions which is either circulate for 4ish hours, or let it sit overnight. From there of course you want to rinse it all out of there. I spilled it on towels, carpet and sunbrella by accident and there were zero ill effects.

I have another post on here about how awesome it worked circulating through my AC units. Major difference.
