Gelcoat Repair Kit

Hello All,

I'm looking to purchase a gelcoat repair kit (white) for my '06 EC. I reached out to Rinker, they put me in touch with a dealer who sent me a spreadsheet with the Spectrum part numbers:


My boat is an '06, but the HIN indicates it was built in '05. Should I use the year my boat was built, or the model year? I know it wont be a perfect tmatch because of fading etc, but I'm just trying to get as close as possible.

Do they by chance have samples they can mail out to you to compare to your hull?

I ended up buying the 2005 (sand white) Patch Paste Kit. Fingers crossed it matches. If not I'll buy the 2006 (white white) stuff.

Unfortunately they don't make a patch kit for the white white, so I'd have to buy the gelcoat, catalyst, and fumed silica all separately.

I thought I saw the white white patch kit on their website like a month ago. I hesitated to buy because I wasn't sure what I needed, but now  the site is only showing quarts and gallons:

I emailed customer service, and pretty much said "only available in quarts and gallons".

Just tried to purchase from here and the seller informed me that Spectrum has discontinued  the patch paste kit in this color. The search continues...

You might have to get a kit and mix your own color.

Interesting. I always buy from Noah’s. 

To be honest, it’s not a great match anyway. At least in my experience. It’s not yellow enough.

Face it: you'll never get a perfect match on old gelcoat.  I recently had a bunch of small chips patched by a 30-year veteran gelcoat guy at a reputable yard.  He custom-mixed and took his time on the job, at great expense.  Three months later, I can easily see all of his patches.

Yeah, I know it's never gonna be perfect, but trying to blend colors is my nightmare.
