Vinyl Letter Removal

I have removed the vinyl letters. what is the best way to clean up the remaining shadow I believe is from the sun?

Is it smooth? When I removed mine, the shadow was also raised. I had to wet sand, compound, polish and wax (use a polishing machine). If it’s not raised, you can probably just use a polishing compound and then wax. You still might see it slightly but it will eventually fade away. Do you plan on putting on a new name over it? That will hide a lot also.

^ same.  My old boat had serious shadowing and while I was able to reduce it, you could still see it if you were looking hard.  After a couple seasons in the sun it was mostly gone. On my Rinker you could see the old name at first but she's fading too...don't worry, you're the only one who even notices.

If it REALLY bugs you, then get a full-width banner with a color match as the background color on your new boat name lettering.

And if you look at the boat with polarized sunglasses it becomes even more visible. Which after five years is about the only way I can see the shadow on my boat now. So it does fade over time. (But it still bugs me!)

Wet sand and compound, then polish ... you won't need to sand much layer off that gelcoat to get that off.

I have the same and other problems- I figure when I go to sell it I'll wet sand and get it looking good-
