I had to post this...i walk my neighborhood every morning. I've been watching the progress of this mail box repair.
My neighborhood is mid level middle class - 350k or so homes. Now my neighbor I've been watching, has a neighbor next door  ..

Then, you have this picture..you have to zoom on it to getvthe full effect..

Assuming he's had his mailbox knocked down a time or two?

    Or he hates the HOA

There has to be a back story- it's a decent home in the neighborhood,  has a late model expedition in the drive...been like this for years- if you zoom on it, it's just a rotten piece of wood that will no longer hold a screw!

If it was a beaten mailbox issue, a 6 inch thick wall steel tubing, painted brown to look like wood 4 ft deep with a 12 inch hole for concrete is a good start.

Welded to the steel pipe is the largest square tubing you can find that fits inside a standard sheet metal mailbox, trussed.   You'll have to notch the bottom out of your new mailbox to place it over your square tube.  Attached with 1/4-20 screws.

The poor soul who decides to hit the mailbox with a bat will feel it for days.   The poor soul who hits it with their vehicle will need to call AAA.

This is also good for plow trucks, although I'd go 6-8 ft deep and 8 inch tube for plow trucks.  Also  double the hole size for concrete.

For added strength fill round tube with concrete.  Bracing concrete with rebar/mesh in the hole is also a good idea if  you need stopping strength.

lol, picklerick makes me remember a story of my father with our mailbox getting hit when growing up.  We had a fancy mailbox that looked like our house.  Kept getting hit.  Now, we lived out in the hicks of Ohio.  He lined up wood with nails sticking out around mailbox.  They ended up with flat tire in the ditch!  Oh that was great.  At that time my old man was a deputy sheriff and went out and flipped badge and asked if they needed help.😉

Ray, as always, thank you and the other incredible moderators for all you have done over the many years to keep this awesome brotherhood of boaters from all over the world together....as for you Ras - there's nothing that you can't handle boat-wise so I never worry about that but having your mail box used for target practice, well that requires some serious thought! Thanks @aero3113 for your kind thoughts. I'm doing well. As you all know we sold the 360 to Bryan. No boats for a year then got a supercharged  Yamaha Waverunner FX .....man did that go (72mph on a gps) sold it and bought a supercharged Yamaha jet boat. Sold in during COVID for kore than we bought it for then switched to land. Now I'm subsidizing the auto industry (LOL) Bought a like-new used Mustang convertible (yes, white and black) had so much fun bought a 2024 Mustang GT - now that is fast (480 HP) and put some nice aftermarkets on it. Got an offer I can't refuse yesterday from a local Ford Dealer so we are heading there today to sign the build orders for a 2026 Mustang GT with the performance and Brembo packages with selectable active exhaust valves (4 levels of beautiful sound). I have now been on a cutting edge chemotherapy for six months and will likely be on it the rest of my life but that's just awesome. Hope to go on a scuba trip this winter. I am on several Mustang forums but NO FORUM I have ever been one "holds a candle" to this one. The absolute most knowledgeable, patient and decent group I have ever been associated with. I will drop in from time to time but not likely to offer any advice as you all have passed me by on that expertise now. I'll try to attach  pic of my 2024 trade. I have  "lurked" over the years, reading all the great adventures and yes, some trials you have faced. Way too much fun! Stay well all of you - my awesome boating brothers - the absolute best anywhere. Good health, calm water and fair skies. Best Respects, Michael

@Michael T I was re-reading and your comment about the mailbox-while there are plenty of places in central Florida where you can have your mailbox shot at, this was not one. That's the reason I posted it - it's just been rotting away and patched back together! With zip tues, electric tape etc. The base must have rotted at ground level and new boards go into the ground to keep it vertical. There has to be a story here!
Take care sir- I certainly was a grasshopper when I first came across this site. Tiki hut was my boat mentor helping me with selection and tips . I was as green as they come and you and many others have read a lot of stupid questions from me. Some might say I'm still asking them!
    Take care sir.
    Rick
PS - I delivered some awesome mustangs over my years in the ford fleet business. That last one I sold was 250K and to be honest, I'm not really sure what it was- but the commission was awesome! Would have been around 2019 era and we only earned one allocation for the year.

Rick.....I always thought your questions were really good. I salute anyone asking questions. Anyone looking for answers is already smart IMO. Yeah, Ford has now partnered with Vaugh Gitten Jr.'s company RTR (have you seen the awesome video Vaught Gitten Jr. drifts Nurburing) and Ford will now build that version on their assembly line - bet that's in the 250K club, then there's the new GTD - what's that 500K. I guess if you have the money? Other that RTR the only other company Ford has partnered with in their history is Shelby.

@Michael T great to hear from you! Looks like you are doing well. I sold my boat this past spring and got a land yacht. I miss being on the water, but there weren’t any close lakes in the area that I moved to 4 years ago. My family is enjoying the RV life,  but I hope to get a day boat sometime in the future. Keep in touch!!

I should have paid more attention when I was selling but my business was 99% fleet and commercial business. I was also in a good spot if the owner was looking for vehicles for his family which most of the time was Mack daddy what ever it was. The way I was paid that business was very nice and generally, they knew what they wanted so I was just taking an order. I did do a mustang drifting ride at daytona one year which was pretty cool.  If I were to try a sportscar again it would be on top of the list. Fun cars to drive.

Wasn't tge saleen mostly just a trim package...like king ranch ...? I don't recall those being heavily modified like rosch or shelby...these new ones @Michael T mentioned I've not heard of.

I wonder with Ford in partnership with Red Bull through F1 in 2026 whether there’s some aero/handling design benefits flowing back. Even though Newey isn’t there still they still have the best aero package to work from.

Absolutely - happens all the time. The 10 speed transmission for f150 was a joint venture with GM so any does not make such investments for nothing.

Hey guys .... Saleen and Roush do customize Mustangs BUT they take the Fords and customize them at their own site - to my knowledge not on a Ford plant assembly line. Vaughn Gitten JRs RTR make-overs, according to a memo published attributed to Ford Prez. Farley will be built on a FORD assembly line.
