Hi all, can anyone tell me what the unit with lots of wires in/out, to the left of the gear lube bottle is?

Oil reservoir and hydraulic pump (round black thingy )for your trim tabs. To left of pump are the electrical connections and relays to run it.

@TickledPink and @Willhound I’m pretty sure it’s the oil reservoir and drive pump for the outdrive, not the trim tabs.

Trim tab pump and reservoir are usually mounted on the transom if you have hydraulic tabs, if electric, the motors are mounted outside to the tab.

Its for the trim rams on your outdrive. Just had to add fluid to mine.

You'll get to know those little guys well.  When the solenoids go bad they click but the out drive doesn't move.

Green wire is for the down solenoid (think of grass) blue is for the up solenoid (sky)

@TickledPink I have a 270 and I see you haveca 250- I'm not familiar with your boat. The good thing is we all pretty much have the same parts- some have more fiberglass than us but the parts are the same. Yes, that is your trim pump that does power the rams on the sides of your outdrive. Good to note the selonoid for the trim pump is the same one for the motor i believe....and our trim tabs are electric and each are self contained. The bigger boats may be hydraulic,  would think so anyway.
Welcome and post some pics of your boat!

Sorry guys, not sure what I was thinking. Drive pump of course. It's been awhile, I shouldn't do early morning posts....🙄

No worries, we've all been there, Will.  My favorite is when I read the post incorrectly and immediately jump right in with some very helpful information that is completely unrelated to the OP's question.  :D

@rasbury the boat is lovely, the engine is a pig. I'm trying to get everything done over winter so that I can actually use it this year.
