So....my horn never worked on our 270 so have been trying to catch little things up- was much way cheaper than expected and two wires, what could go wrong even for me?
I installed and gave it a toot. Buttoned up the wiring and went on the water next day- no horn. So, I undid the wiring and found one pulled out from a bad crimped, it was hard to get in there as the boat side harness is a nubbin...anyway, corrected (did not test) and put it all back together...then tested, no horn. So, I checked the switch, which was good and then power at the horn-zip. So, time to tare it apart and also not take any of the right pictures. In the end, the positive wire makes contact with the coil with no permanent attachement other than they slide together in a white piece of shielding material- so when i zip tied the loom it must have pulled it out. A zip tie held it in position but nothing to stop it pulling out losing contact. Cheap **** horn i bought. Anyway, my point of the post, the little metal piece in the picture I can't really remember how it came apart but it looks like it should have a nut on either side of the brown metal piece- and said piece is not the same on both ends, no idea what it does...and for those whose comment is " I always take pictures", my phone was right there...I don't need pictures! If anyone has any recollection...
