What is everyone thinking? Showing possibly 12+ inches for Long Island. Doesn’t look good for the states that aren’t used to snow and ice….

Guess I’ll put the plow back on the truck tomorrow and make sure the tractor is fueled up. Thought about going skiing again this weekend but the drive home would probably be miserable

The forecast for the DC area is classic sensationalist reporting.  First they make an early forecast of huge snow to cause a panic.  Then they start walking it back.

Yesterday it said 24".  Today it says 14".  The final result will probably be 8" (enough to shut down the entire DC-MD-VA area).

We were for sure cold earlier this week but looking at the 80's this weekend before another cold plunge in central fl next week. Not to often we see 30's in the orlando area..I'm about 20 miles north of downtown so we run cooler. Ocala saw 20's and the panhandle did snow.

We’ve definitely been due around here for some good snow, but as Larea said, it has dropped done to around a foot now.  My son is happy cause he will do a bunch of driveways to pay for his upcoming vacation.

-40? Where at? I've seen wind chills like that in Iowa and northern Minnesota. I had frost on the inside of the windshield haha.

They are calling for about foot in the Philly area. I'm hoping we get walloped. Haven't had a real snow storm here in like 10 years.

They already cancelled school for my daughter tomorrow. It's an E-Learning day so she doesn't have to make it up. The high here is supposed to be 4 and the low is -5. It will get windy so they are calling for a -30 wind chill. I will say that this weather in the MidWest can be miserable. I'll take Pittsburgh's lake effect snow all day over the wind and subzero temperatures.

So, the snow total has gone down to 9 inches but even worse the ice total is going up.  I’ll take the snow!!

    80 here tomorrow..almost 90 on sunday...

They’re saying 8”-14” for us could be more depending on the mix. Ice total could near 1”-3”. Not good…

What is a good time to come launch????  Expecting 1-3 inches of ice, sleet and snow on sinday

This is a dangerous storm, especially those with meager resources. We need to keep an eye on our neighbors. Even here in Florida we will have 4 mornings in the 30's with a large transient community all over our state.

-2.9 right now. Got to take the pup for a walk. Brrr. No wind luckily. Up to 18” they say from tomorrow. Nothing like the 22” Christmas Day 2001 and another 22” 8 days later.

The wind is the bigger concern and keeping an eye on the trees around here that aren’t mine till they come down on my side…

At 10:15PM with DC streets still clear and dry, they are now predicting 6.4 inches.  Was 24, now 6 ... that's why I'm so cynical about the weather forecasting industry! But I'll be watching the security cams on our place in Virginia.
  • grouch0jrgrouch0jr Member Posts: 112 ✭✭
They always over-predict! Three days ago they were saying 18" here, now expecting 6".

So, I have to say, I watch WBAL and they had it right all along.  They were saying around 6-8 inches here for many days.  They also said when it was further out they wouldn’t make wild predictions.  DC station WUSA was pretty accurate since Wednesday as well.  Online had some wild predictions.

I use Weather Underground. They've actually been pretty consistent all week. The other forecasts started much higher than Weather Underground, and now are lower. I'm still hoping for a foot.

The wild 24" predictions I mentioned before are from Weather Underground.  Looking at my security cameras, there's about 4" of snow.

Over the last several years I've noticed just about any weather source is predicting the worst. If it doesn't happen people think.."they screwed up" but they're happy and relieved it wasn't as bad as thought.
But if they under predict and people get walloped then the poop hits the deck....

So, when you do your water system in the south, is it good enough to just use the air compressor and blow all water out?  Or do you purge it with pink?  I’ve honestly thought about only doing the air purge, but I’ve always done both.
