The WM stores here in the DC area seem to be in decline, but I think that's because there aren't enough boats here.  Southern Florida is a different story because there are so, many, boats.  WM stores there are all huge and well-stocked.

I don't see WM going away, but I'd hate to see them close the stores here.  When you need 'em, you need 'em!

I wish they were a bit more competitive. Last summer they changed their rewards program and its just not worth it anymore. I was even able to get some parts shipped overnight from other suppliers cheaper than if I picked up in store at WM.

I have some “inside knowledge” of WM and things have been in a spiral for a few years, especially when the ex CEO of Michaels stepped in and tried to run it like them. Some of their approaches were just plain stupid. I’d say the new CEO with better aligned background used this approach to reorg and come back better.

You’d be shocked at what their pro account discounts used to be, especially an anything west marine branded

@TonyG13 those are the same as Deka batteries. I always had success with them. You can also find them at Blain’s Farm and Fleet if there is one near you.

I scored a fan for my land yacht that was 80% off at WM. My daughter will be happy now.

Bwahahaha -- good one!  But the WM screwdriver is on sale for $18.98, plus the 10% member discount, this weekend only.

All in good fun.  For real, I want WM to right-size and figure out how to continue.  We need them.

Curious to see what WM looks like when they emerge from this.

Would be nice if their “pro” prices went back to what they were but doubtful

Yeah, not a surprise.  I like the one in bay ridge better anyhow, but edgewater is next to boat. Rock hall will leave that area without much.

The stores I've been in around central Florida have been good.  They sure have a lot of stuff when you want it now. They just never seem particularly busy..
  • LaReaLaRea Posts: 8,069 mod
I visited the Petoskey Michigan store today.  It felt depressing, almost creepy.  Shelves mostly empty, nothing left except special-purpose parts that they just can't sell.  I could not find one single thing to buy -- not sure that has ever happened before!
  • aero3113aero3113 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭✭✭
Same here @LaRea , I went to the Patchouge West Marine near my marina to see if I could find the Vacuuflush parts. I walked around and the shelves were empty!

They were actually a big help though, they researched the parts for me.

Same here at the Port Washington NY store. Not a single hose clamp for a 3/4 hose the other day

My closest one is on the chopping block and might even be closed by now. Luckily still have the walk-in storefront for what some may know through mail order as marineengineparts.com

I live pretty close to the storefront for powerboatsupply.com. I've never actually been in, but their prices are good and delivery to me is super fast. It's nice to know that they are nearby if I'm if ever in a pinch. I get all my parts between them and Defender.

@Rich_ Lighthouse Marine (Marineengineparts.com) is awesome. We’re very lucky to have them around.
