Enhance/improve power steering? Install smaller pump pulley?

I had read long ago about some people that had put on a slightly smaller power steering pulley to get a little more assistance at slow speed. (and a different belt obviously) Anyone know anything about this? I have greased and lubed and cleaned relentlessly and of course installed a new steering cable, but it is still too stiff for me until planed.

    To be honest by your brief description,  it does not sound like your power steering is working- it should not be like that. I have a 270 but the same motor. If it has fluid in it, you need to figure out if the pump is pumping it. I replaced mine...i believe a cooler leak took out the fluid and burnt the pump up- which sounds like you. If you have recently added a lot of fluid....or the pump went bad. It is a gm Saginaw 350 pump- you can use the same housing/reservoir tank. Its not the pulley/rpm, you have something else going on..any auto parts store has it.
