VDO gauge won't stop beeping

Hello all, 

I have a 2002 5.0/MPI 192 Captiva with VDO gauges. I am running into a problem where the depth gauge keeps blinking and beeping. Any ideas on whats going on or how to fix it?

At best I would like to just silence the continuous beeping sound coming from the gauge. I have a fish finder I can put on that will tell me my depth if I need to. 

I just want my peace and quiet back again!! HA

well, I'm surprised no one has answered this yet.  I've had it happen & end up usually pushing the on/off button till it shuts up.  I've then set the minimum depth to 0 & haven't had it go off anymore.  It is quite an annoying thing.  Yes, I'm sure it can be useful, but for most of us, when we get to a minimum depth, we know we are in shallow water & when it goes off, it scares the crap out of you.

How can I set the minimum depth to zero?

This is not my depth finder. mine is build into the gauge. Perhaps I can find and disconnect the power wire.

Look online for VDO marine instruments and there might be instructions there. The Faria website has instructions for the depth guage.

I took out the gauge assembly yesterday and on the back was what looked like a small speaker. I stuffed the hole with a piece of memory foam and will see if this can silence my problem.

Don't know how to forward the link, but google VDO guages and you'll find their marine guages and then you'll have to navigate through the site and you will find "Downloads". In the downloads, you will find instructions/user manuals for the various guages, including depth guage, with info on how to calibrate, etc.
