Raise engine hatch with dead batteries?

Hi gang I was wondering how to raise engine hatch on my 250fv with dead batteries! I see two post in the power compartment, can I hook up a battery to these post to raise the hatch? Thanks!

Yes, that is the purpose of those posts.  Attach jumper cables to raise it, then reverse the cables to lower it. Good luck!

Just plug your boat in and turn on the battery charger??? Dead batteries or not it will raise the hatch.

Can't You do it manually? At the top of the actuator there's a pin holding it attached to the hatch. After removing this pin, you should be able to raise the hatch manually.
I guess you can access to the pin thru table holder on the floor?

Yes, you can do it manually.  Remove the table holder, cut a slit in the insulation, and reach in with your arm.  Pull the pin, and get a couple sturdy friends to help you lift the hatch.

I would go with the battery booster on the terminals.  I did it manually once and almost broke something....me.  Once you get it up manually with a bud have a 2x4 or something ready.  I would not let it sit back all the way.  It is a lot of wieght and may crack around the hinges.

how do you get to the batterires, if they are dead and you can't raise it???

There are two terminal posts located in the same compartment as your battery switch and selector.mine have plastic caps (red and black I think). Hook up your jumper cables/jump box to those. It is wired directly to the linear actuator and bypasses a dead battery. I perpetually guess the wrong polarity so if it doesn't go up, reverse the polarity of the jumper cables.

What exactly is the procedure to jump the hatch with the terminals? Are the posts negitive and positive? Do I hook the jump box cables to a specific terminal? Just dont want to short or fry anything out. thanks

Should look something like this.  Unscrew those two red caps, or red/black if they are colored on yours, and then hook up the cables, one to each.  If after a few seconds, nothing happens, reverse the cables and try again.  Neg/Pos=up, reverse Pos/Neg=down.  Good luck.
