Winter boating, south Texas

Hi, I'm looking for a little advice. My wife and I are thinking about trailering our 250 fv to south Texas in February to get away from the midwest weather and to enjoy some winter boating. We are looking at the Port Isabel, South Padre area. Has anyone out there done this in the winter, and if so do you have any advice.
