I bought my 2002/342 from a Rinker dealer and part of the deal was he had to install a new seat with a bolster for the driver. I believe he got the seat from the factory.
My 2003 342 does not have the flip up bolster. I believe that they added the flip up bolster in 2005. I inquired about purchasing the flip up seat from Rinker a year or two ago. I don't remember exact amount but I think it was around $1200.00 plus shipping. I was also told that the color would not match, they don't have the off white that was used on the earlier 342's. Rinker sent me a piece of fabric of the new color, it was a brighter white that I could probably live with. I just hate the thought of shelling out 1200 plus for a seat.
ME207, I did look at the brackets. I'm not sure exactly how they work. I would think that you would have to do quite a bit of modification and upholstery work to your current seat. I need more room between the seat and dash area when maneuvering the boat and when cruising I would love to be able to flip up the bolster to lean/sit a little higher for better vision. I may have to bite the bullet and purchase the seat from Rinker. Wonder what shipping cost will be...
ME207, that's an interesting option. You will have to measure existing seat to see if the Larson seat could work. Might be a much less expensive way to get a bolster seat. I wonder how the color matches up.
Once boating season started I put a large fender on the existing seat as a make-shift bolster while the Larson seat sat in my basement at home. Larson seat is still in my basement and the boat still in the slip for another few weeks … then we'll see about that project in the off-season.
