Antifreeze Stain on floors!

jaubryjaubry Member Posts: 125 ✭✭
I went to check on the boat this weekend and to my surprise, there was antifreeze dropped on the floors that ran across from one side to the other and back to the aft cabin. I tried to rub it off, however, it didn't lift. Is there a cleaner someone can recommend or do the wood floors need to be sanded? **** at the marina. Hope they make it right.

If it is the pink stuff and was left there for a long period it is probably embedded in the varnish. You could try to make a paste of water and Oxy clean and gently rubbed in and let soak for a while. You could try this on a small area first where it is less noticeable. Hate to say that but it looks like a varnish job. Maybe somebody will come up with a better solution. Good luck Paul

I don't know if the stain will come out, but... I refinished the wood floor in my 09 340. The previous owner had dogs & the floors were trashed. You have to be careful sanding. The floor is plywood and only has a thin layer of the top wood. I sanded & then used 2 coats of polyurethane. Looks very good. I'm planning on doing one more coat this year.

Thanks for the refinishing tips, I need to get to mine one of these days. Sorry, no suggestion for the anti freeze stain.

Floors look great KD. I am meeting with the service manager tomorrow via conference call. I am certain they'll do the right thing. They're a reputable dealership and have done right by me thus far.

Well, the cleaners looked at the floors and can't get it out. Now the bodyshop needs to have a try. I presume they will have to refinish the floor.

Bummer, sorry to hear that. Even though my floors were trashed by the previous owner's dog, I could see the factory floor finish in hidden areas, like under the couch. I think the finish I put on (after sanding) looks better than the original finish. Hopefully you have the same results.

Well it looks like a specialist is working on the floor. Sanding and revarnishing them seems to be working.

Good, nice that the dealer is responding positively.
