Richard, what else would I need to buy to make this work?  All I have is the dinghy, so I assume this does not include the pads/glue that go to the dink?  Also I'd need the rod that would hold it out from the stern.  Trying to figure out exactly what the push pins are for?

Dream_Inn  I have 2 swim step davits, one long and one short pin, 2 cleats that mount to the dingy and one rubber pad that also mounts to the dingy with glue. You will probably need one more pad, and the stand off rod. Let me know if you need more info or just give me a call.

DI: I just bought a can of glue from Weaver (kit actually), I no longer need it with the new dinghy I bought, drop me a note and I can cut you a good deal on it.

Thanks Richard and BD.  I need to give this some thought.  I've had a dink for 6 years now, 2 with this boat.  I just didn't know if I wanted the toe stubbers, even though I have the dimples that they'd go in.  Right now I put the dinghy right on the "rumble" seat, so nothing in the way as far as walking around on the platform.  I've really just been thinking about a 9.9hp and getting that davit thing that allows the engine to rotate.

All tough decisions that so far have lead me down the path to not do anything so far....

Can you get that engine mount/swivel to hold a 9.9?  I saw one but its weight limit was like 65#, and the 4 stroke 8/9.9's are 95#, not sure about the lighter 2-strokes.  Be sweet if I could do that.

As far as the 'toe stubbers': I've never had an issue with them mounted on mine.

I found an older 9.9hp on craigslist the other day and looked up the weight.  It was 65#.  Might work I guess.  I might need to look into the engine thing first.  I really like my 3.3hp & also thought about putting the 9.9hp in my dock box and using it mostly local (have nice area right at dock) for the tubing/sking that I'd be buying it for.  Otherwise my 3.3hp does everything else I'd need.

probably a 2-stroke..worth grabbing if the price is right!  I like my 3.3 too..30# but bigger dinghy now might like an 8hp better..scouring craigslist for one daily.  B-)

Last year I bought the Weaver Lever for my 9.9 Yamaha 2 stroke which is mounted on a 8'10" RIB. The lever works great but it is fairly heavy to pivot the dinghy up with the 9.9 so I got a small set of rope blocks and that works great. I originally thought the lever would pivot the motor as the dinghy was lifted but that's not the case, for my set up I have to get the motor in the upright position when the dinghy is still on it's bottom because I use the lever bracket as my dinghy anchor point as well. Again it is a bit of a wrestle to get the motor pivoted and locked in position with out it closing back on your fingers, Over all it makes a good solid mount and keeps most of the motor weight off of the tubes. Oh ya I get almost 25 mph from that little rig with just me in the boat.

See the other post for a photo of my Weaver Lever. My buddy has a new Mercury 8 hp 4 stroke on the Weaver Lever with now problems behind his Rinker 320.

I'm very happy with my weaver kit. I don't use a stand off, I just swing the dink all the way up to the boat and tie it off.

The spots on the swim platform really help making sure you don't stub a toe.
