Replacing male end on shore power cord

Need to replace male end 30 amp twist lock on shore power cable. Do I have to use a Marinco brand twist lock or will any industrial 30 amp twist lock work?

I would not replace anything. I would buy a new cord. When you start replacing cord ends you need to make sure its water tight. So after buying the new cord cap and the water proof boot its not that much difference in price.

The Marinco is made for weather / water exposure. The plug itself is standard electrical stuff. I agree with Raybo, better to replace the cord. The new EEL plug ends look interesting too.

I have the EEL Marinco cords. They are fantastic and were on sale at West Marine at a decent discount last week. You may want to see if that price is still available. West Marine will ship to you. MT

I made some shore power cables a few years ago, total cost was about $100 for 50 feet of cable and the ends. Threw them away a month after I made them because even though the connectors say they are water proof... they are not. The dock side breaker would pop for no reason after a good rain (covered slip). Luckily no one was injured
