Captiva 232 battery placement

Went to mount the 2 battery boxes in our 2000 Captiva 232 and I can't seem to figure it out. The battery boxes press up against the Corsa exhaust, so I bought trays with hold downs, and there just isn't enough room. They are mounted on the starboard side. Any help or pics would be greatly appreciated.
