Water tank filling while hooked to shore water

rinker312rinker312 Member Posts: 255 ✭✭
All. As the title says. My water tank is filling up on its own while I am at the dock with the hose hooked up. I think there is a check valve somewhere but can someone give me a better idea where to look? Thanks

It should be built right into the freshwater pump. You may have something stuck in the pump causing this.

Ray is right on target but check everything. BoatUS recently posted a warning about dockside sinkings and noted the danger of shoreside water connections being an unlimited water source that can overwhelm a bilge pump if something fails. Glad you caught it and hope you find your exact issue.

Good point Tiki. I rarely hook up direct and always shut it off when I leave the boat. Iive off the tank, keeps it clean/fresh.

I do the Same BD. Especially at my own marina. Out right now in another marina and have shore water connected, but turn it off and pump on (for ice machine). I know, should have all off but at least worst case is water tank empties, not continuous shore water.

Yeah I never leave my water on while I am gone but been here all week this week and noticed the water dripping out of the breather hole.   Auto fill feature is nice if I could only shut it off LOL!  I'll check out the pump and see if I see anything odd.  Thanks
