Yes, I have been to Claudio's a number of times, and it is good, but I was looking for someplace different, and on Shelter Island itself. I see on trip advisor there are over 20 places to dine, but I don't know if you can access any by boat.
My wife's family owns a house on Shelter Island, we got married on the island and had our reception on the property. We visit there often and recently went to a restaurant called Salt,it's accessible by water and was very good.
No, on my first attempt my outdrive went just the other side of plum gut, and I had to be towed back to the Connecticut river. The next time was a couple weeks ago, and since it was late in the season, we went where we knew would be open, Claudio's. Great Manhattan clam chowder. The goal is to make it to Salt next year.

Try Claudio's They have a dock and sea wall and is easy to get to. Also the food is good in my opinion, as well as others.

Thanks aero3113, I read about Salt and it sounds good.
No problem, there is Sunset Beach also, great restaurant but call and and ask if they have docks for visitors (you might have to anchor)
