outdrive stand

I remember someone had a picture of an outdrive stand that was made from an ATV lift. Any chance of getting this picture? I've struggled taking my outdrive off and on too many times this year.

Thanks BD, those are some nice looking pieces. But I am on a low budget. The "if I couldn't do most of my own work, I wouldn't have a boat" budget. I already have an atv/motorcycle lift, and I remember seeing one converted into an outdrive stand/lift. I will just have to keep looking through past postings, which can be fun anyways!

Jhof, yes i know what you mean.  I could never afford to have someone work on my boat, i'd have to get rid of it if I didn't work on it.  I have often thought about building my own also, but my driveway where I park the boat to work on it is all small stone, it would be a nightmare trying to move the jack around anyway.  So even though I have done it several times by myself, last year I called a friend in to help me take them off and back on.  Two people make pretty quick work of it.  I did a quick google of "outdrive jack from ATV lift" and then went to images.  I saw a few of them including the one below, which seems super simple, just clamp some 2X to the jack.  Good luck, and post back if you rig something up, I would love to see it.

Here's a simple one I fabricated for my recent O/D pull and it worked great. Old steel bed frame recycled with a few bolts. Nothing fancy but far safer than two guys bustin' a gut. Now an easy, easy 1 man operation.... cost: $0, + 2hrs of head scratching, problem solving and torch work.

Make sure you check your O/D-engine alignment. Mine had NEVER been done (not at the factory or by the two other people who were paid to check it) and it was nearly an inch off in the fwd motor mount height. Super simple and it'll save you a terrible experience with changing a $500-$1500 engine coupler.....ask me how I know..

Good luck, Hope that helps save a few hard earned bucks. Mike

Thanks for all the pics. I think I'll try to modify my motorcycle lift so I can use it for the outdrive and still use it for my low budget Harley. If there is such a thing.
