2004 312 EC hull vent

There is a small vent with a screen located just aft of the A/C discharge outlet on the port side. The vent appeared to be chrome plated zinc and needs to be replaced. My question is three fold. 1-What is its purpose?  2-How do I acess it? 3-Where can I purchase a replacement that is not zinc? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Brian

I have a 320 and what I have is the drain for the a/c pan. Hope this helps.

Brian. Sorry just read the rest of your question. You can access it from the port side of the forward berth. Lift the cushion up and the a/c compressor is located there. Follow the drain of the A/C pan to the hull and that is the vent. Fairly easy to replace. You will need a helper to hold the outside part as you tighten the inside. I replaced mine with one from WM. It still looks new after three seasons.

      Thanks a mil for the info. One  more thing-Is that West Marine or Wholesale Marine and do you recall the part number?

Sorry Brian. I actually went in the WM store with the part in hand. It was in the spring before I put the boat in the water.
