Exhaust noise

When I start the starboard engine the exhaust noise seems to be more loud that the port engines only at start up while cruising it seems to be the same. Any ideas 
(twin 5.0 MPI)

    I will have to pull the sterndrive out to replace the steering shaft so I will check that out .

    I don't see how that would matter. The exhaust bellows are under water. I've had an exhaust bellow come off the drive and noticed no difference in noise.  Maybe water pump not pushing out as much water until rpm comes up. But again exhaust is under water so don't see what the difference would be. Have you started engines with hatch open to see if you notice anything in the engine compartment?
