Well, the ol' ice maker finally shot craps....  I cant even figure out why I care, as I don't even use the thing.  Has anyone found any less expensive alternative for replacement than a new U Line B195 (about $1,000 to $1,100). Obviously it would have to be the right size.

About $500 for parts and they're not sure it will work after that. Parts are heavily rusted ( or something) and the ice maker trays won't function. Just doesn't seem like 500 (plus more maybe) is a good option.

Mine ended up being a micro switch inside on the circuit board, cost me about $250 to have a tech fix it. I researched small freezers as we use it to hold ice we bring from home or buy ( don't trust the marina well ) the problem is there us no such freezer that narrow (14") so I bit the bullet and had the tech look at it. All good now.

You can buy the whole Ice Making unit for a **** of a lot less than that. I replaced mine and it was easy.

yes, you can purchase a lot of the parts inside for much less, as others have said.  I know several 342 owners in my marina that have gone that route and are happy.
