Hi all my wall to the head on my Fiesta Vee 250 is rotted where it joins the step, am i better to try to cut out the rotted section or to try to pull out the whole wall?
I'd be real concerned how it rotted in the first place- that being said, I'm sure the wall is just cosmetic so I would replace just what is needed to make it look right but I'd sure find the leak before I invested any work into the repair!
Further investigation showed the the cabin bilge was disconnected, I reconnected the wire and the pump fired up, the location says that there was water sitting in that are around the bilge pump, the wall seems like its easy to remove, but i need to figure out the best way to manufacture a new wall and door.
That shouldn't be too difficult to fix. Are you going to cut it out and put a new piece in? How are you going to finish the joint between the new and old piece? I was thinking as RY, replace the carpet and then run the carpet up on the new piece to cover the joint.
Im planning on making a whole new wall and cover it with wood veneer that i can stain and varnish, im taking up a lot of carpet and putting down vinyl wood effect flooring. It looks like a few screws at the top and one near the bottom is all thats holding the wall in place
OK, so last night i took out every screw i could find on the wall but its still holding firm, i cant see what is holding it in place so i may have to just cut out the rotted area and put a piece in then look at covering it all over with veneer. Maybe i can make a paper template for the veneer.
I have found a small drip on the bathroom sink drain, that may have been the culprit for the rot, but it must have happened a long time ago, the sink was really dusty and the rotted wall was dry.
