I am new to this forum, I just pulled out 07 350 out of the water fro the second time in 4 months. I got hit with bad barnacle growth on the drives that actually cut my drive oil make up line emptying my reservior into the marina!
I have never painted the XDP drives but am considering it now. Boat lives in saltwater in Northern Sanfrancisco Bay. Am considering Interlux Trilux 33. Any thoughts about that?
Thanks

Keep the paint away from the hydrolic lift cap. The cap tends to corrode since it's not bonded! If it corrodes the fluid drips out making another marina mess. Been there done that! Also you may want to check the water intake cupper inside transom plate location. The stainless is also not bonded!!! I went thru two sets and finely bonded them with a wire to the block.

Some recent converts from XDP are downright effusive about their praise, but that might be due to the euphoria of getting rid of a product that has given them headaches. My mechanic works on lobster boats with V-P drives of various vintages with 5,000+ hours of reliable service. In my opinion the XDP was an outlier in a product range that has had a pretty stellar reputation worldwide.
