Bilge alarm and second bilge pump

Im thinking of retro fitting a bilge alarm for high water to my 1989 Fiesta Vee 250, is that an easy thing to do? im thinking i can take power from under the helm.
I can install the alarm panel into the helm next to the wheel, since im new to boating and this boat im concerned that if i spring a leak i may not know it until its too late, I am keeping her on the water at a marina.
I also would like to add a second bilge pump because i have a new spare i bought when i thought my cabin bilge was fried, turns out it was dissconected,
Why are the bilge pumps in engine room and cabin different? heat?

I think wiring an alarm easy... A matter of fact, you can wire in a lead to the hot lead, and use a timer board/relay and off of it tap the horn harness... Beep beep beep... That would get attention, no? Off the same relay/timer board, but populating another lead, power an emergency bilge to double your pump out volume... The timer board can be purchased for $10 or so, or I can mail you one... I've a stack of them at work.

I've no notion of why there are different bilges in either cabin or bilge... ???

My water alarm is just under my throttle arm between the helm and the captain's seat, on starboard wall.

I did this years ago on my basement sump pump would work fine on a bilge I just change the battery when I change out the other smoke alarms in the house.

Boomer that alarm is just one of the ones i was looking at, im just looking at a pre-made system that just needs a power wire and some screws lol

I saw that one too, i was looking at one that you can silence the alarm, can you do that on yours?
