Began to remove carpet...

I began to remove the carpet in my 270FV... Time for a change... Many projects going on this spring, starting early (March 9th)!
-New flooring (probably going with carpet in the aft cabin, and teak and holly for the rest)
-Removed stairs to make a more "open concept feel" by using an open step ladder.
-New swim deck (made from aluminum structure, starboard deck and SeaDek pad for the existing step and expanded new deck)
-LED lighting conversion for the cockpit, and cabin
LOTS OF WORK, but it will all be worth it! COME ON SUMMER!!

PairADice, you will love the look teak and holly gives, i just completed installing mine and it really makes the boat feel more luxurious

Post pictures throughout your project, really helps if part of the way through you feel like it will never be ready, you can look back through the thread.
Also i loved hearing all the positive comments and advice on here.

Yes, same style..open concept, with the West Marine LEDs for them, and around the cabin/cockpit to compliment whats already there.

I got samples from World Panel marine products today.. really nice, but not what I had in mind.. I was looking for vinyl, and it was like a really thin wood. I was under the impression that it would come in a roll..

Here is the Update! V-berth 3/4in plywwod floor, and carpet (picture shows the carpet still in, but I prematurely took the picture) has been removed, taken home to sand and refinish; bilge cleaned (again picture taken prematurely); the new storage cabinet where the microwave was is installed and first coat of paint applied; the larger locker with shelves (forward of the head) was made bigger, installed, first coat of paint applied; new paper towel holder installed, Pair-A-Dice stickers have been applied to the bow; and a new welcome aboard decal installed inside the cabin.. lots of work this week done, and a lot more work to do.. Also, new stairs were "installed to check fit, but removed and made more narrow to make room in the cabin. The stairs were not exactly what I had in mind, but they will work. They are home and have been sanded and stained. Varnish will be applied on Sunday.

So what does everyone think about gel-coating the floor, with non skid texture and throw rugs. I really don't want carpet, the vinyl floors are going to show the imperfections in the fiberglass and my cabin has to many angles for teak and holly (I know the other option of making a sub-floor, but am not interested in that). I was on a friends sailboat today and saw how nice his tan gel coated floor looked and became intrigued.
