Transom Mounted Transducer on 262 Captiva

I'm looking to install a Garmin transom mounted transducer on my 2005 262 BR.  The transducer says not intended for use with a stepped hull.  I assume the 262 is a stepped hull.  Has anyone  with a 262 or similar style hull done this successfully?  If so, where did you mount the transducer?

I had it installed by pros that do many, many transducer installs. I track bottom easily at high speeds. I see fish clearly when trolling. It seems to be the correct place to me.

This is where mine is mounted on my 260EC. It works fine.

Wow, that is pretty close to the prop. I thought I read that was a no no! Interesting! Thanks!

Is that a stepped hull design?  My 262 seems to have much more agressive contours.

The boat has chines if that is what you are talking about.

Got it installed just to the port side of the drive unit. Works beautifully!

To me the stepped hulls are the type that run across the width of a hull, such as old hydroplane or jet boats.  Chines running the length of the hull should not adversely affect a transducer.  Mine is located where Mark B's picture shows, but sometimes I wish it was through the hull like my old Rinker.  I guess the transom mount is more accurate but seems vulnerable to damage when boat gets stored or moved.
