thanks for setting up the forum. i am a diy'er and forums like this make things a lot easier. the wife and i just bought a 2006 250 express cruiser so i am sure i will be asking questions.
thanks everyone. it needs a good clean, buff, and wax but she will shine up real nice!. i'm usually a project kinda guy but the wife got tired of working out the bugs and demanded a turn key, no major work needed boat. no more projects. the boat was in good shape but turns out the trailer needs some attention. gotta love brokers that say they did something and didn't. trailer was supposed to be road worthy but had a blowout 100 miles from home, my spare was 5 lug and trailer turned out to be 6 lug(which is fine with me) got into a tire discounter 30 minutes before closing time. had to remove hub/rotor/caliper as one piece just to get the wheel off so i could get a tire mounted. all the lugs were seized. the hub with the blowout had no brake pads. when i got home to inspect the trailer closer, turns out 3 of the 4 rotors were rusted and not working. i guess on the bright side, i ordered everything but axles for the tandem trailer so it will have all new hubs and bearings, disc brakes, maxxis 10ply load e tires mounted on new alloy wheels with stainless lug nuts. i plan on having this boat for awhile so i figured i would Break Out Another Thousand! (or 2) lol
Welcome to the forum. I'm pretty new here too, and the folks here have been a huge help in working through some of the issues I've encountered with my new (to me) 262 Captiva! I don't mean to laugh at your trailer story, but I just went through the same thing. Bought the boat from a broker who advertised that the triple axle trailer had 6 new tires. By the time it made it from Aneheim to Sacramento one of the tires had destroyed itself and two others were coming apart. $710 later it was back on the road with 6 new tires for real! Hopefully you won't have as many issues with your new toy as I have, but if you do, you'll find a wealth of knowledge from the folks on this forum to help you work through them!
One less thing to worry about. Those of us who are a bit OCD about maintenance are never really satisfied so keep those wrenches handy. Just keep telling your wife how much you saved by tweaking these things yourself. She'll love those problem free days on the boat.
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you've already learned that nothing works perfectly all the time when it comes to boating. Most of us here love to Tinker with our Rinker!
