I use enclosed boxes for the wet batteries in my engine bay. Open ones for the agms for the thruster up in the stateroom. The boxes help protect the batteries from any water leakage. When I wash the boat I always get drippage right where they reside. And of course they protect from battery spew if that ever happens as mark mentioned.
@craigswardmtb I get the same water drippage on the batteries which is what prompted my questions. I am going to buy them. Stop the water and any potential acid spew.
Not a bad idea. I've seen people go an extra step and bore a hole in the side of the boxes and route any hydrogen gases through plastic tubing out with the exhaust air from the compartment blower. I thought it overkill but then again, not the worst idea I've seen.
