two beep alarm every minute

Another question.

2002 Rinker 310 FV with 5.0 MPI and Bravo III's.  The issue started at the end of the season, so we had the IAC's changed on the offending (starboard) engine.  First run this season (after impellers changed), the double beep "soft" alarm happened twice and not again in a one plus hour cruise.  The alarm came back the next day.  Two beeps every minute.  The alarm also came on right after the initial alarm when starting.  The mechanic came out three days later and was unable to get the alarm, or pull a code.

The technician was able to find some wires that were burned back by the alternator.  He changed those.  Could a low power steering fluid cause this alarm?

Any other ideas?

Tell me about your fuel... New? Last seasons?  Recreational fuel or ethanol laden?  fuel filters fresh and not limiting flow? air filter clean? Throttle body clean? 

Tell me about your spark plugs... Inspected? New? Old? 

Plug wires and dizzy cap? 

Thermostats? 


I'm wagering on knock sensors... due to predetonation... Due to one of above items... Most likely first.

3/4 full tanks, from the harbor (recreational fuel) at the end of last season.  Filters, plugs, and impellers changed over the lay-up.  A temperature gage was dancing a little (but on the portside engine).  

Checked it last night and did not get the alarm.  Started her up and let her run, couldn't leave dock due to weather.  Did not get alarm....

Maybe it was the wiring and maybe the problem is solved...

For the record, you can get the mechanic to pull records of knocks, from the pcm.
