U-bolt torque

I am getting mixed and contradictory advice on U-bolt re-torque to 55 ft-lbs, do these U-bolts require to be re- torqued regularly?, the gimbal on my boat was worn away by the square pin(weak link on Mercs) over time, got a new one installed 3 years ago and i am actually noticing some play, i am tempted to re-torque them this year to prevent premature wear.
Thanks in advance

Yes retorque them every season per Merc recommended maintenance.  Merc use to call out 50lbs now its between 50 and 55.  I go 52ft lbs.  When I repaired my swivel shaft this year the replacement Ubolt that merc now calls out was thicker than the one I replaced.  My guess is this was a running change and is the reason they increased the torque spec.
