Did you get a new unit? How hard is it to get the old one out? I will probably need to replace/repair my drip tray sometime in the not too distant future.

@pepmyster, are you putting in a unit with more BTUs? I was thinking of running an outlet to my cockpit because my new 16K unit failed and an 18K unit was shipped to replace it so I have an extra 2K of BTUs -or- maybe installing a smaller unit under the port passenger seat.
MT, I have an outlet to my cockpit area. It is kind of nice and if you have it in the right area, it'll work decent. Mine aims across from port side and can aim it aft or across at helm. Obviously won't cool during day but is nice in evening especially if there is rain and you need covers up. I've thought about actually adding a unit to the cockpit area, but not sure I want to lose the space under a seat for it. (although, I can probably work it in without doing that either. So pep, is the unit still for sale?
I'm sure you know this DI - they have A/C - heating units that come in components so the compressor can be remote etc. You can split the components up to place them in several locations.....and on our 360 there is a lot of space behind seats and under cabinets in the cockpit.
Yep, seen them MT. I have plenty of space under my port seat (not using valuable storage space). I even have an extra seacock in the ER that could probably route up there as well & could "T" into an existing exit line. Just not sure it's worth the effort when typically I can open cabin door along with my small vent. I don't use the isinglass much in the summer either, so I'd never put it up just to run the air/heat. But....a unit for a decent price might make it worthwhile.
One thing I did not know (among 1000s) is that they make a 12 volt - yes you heard that right a 12 volt AC unit. I bet it draws 30-40 amps though! I guess if you had 3 or 4 big AGMs you'd be okay for a few hours LOL!
Dometic 10,000 BTU air conditioner draws 6.7 amps at 120V. Multiply this by 10 for 12V = 67 amp draw. Recommended breaker is 25 amps on 120V = 250 amps on 12V.
Sorry for the slow response! I just sold the unit. The Dometic was 7000 btu. The new one is 6000btu. Install went very well......sold it for $400. Client very happy!
it's gotta be bigger than 7k on the 342. I have a 12k and a 16k on mine. Yes, it can get very cold, or very hot (80 on a 22 deg night & 65 on any hot day)
That looks like a great unit and it doesn't use a ton of power. 650 Watts max draw is not a lot. You will have to let us know how it works out for you.
