I have a 2000 rinker 242 fiesta vee. I've read on here some vessels need water to cool their a/c unit, does anyone know if mine does, lol if so how do I check?

Find your unit and see if it has water hoses hooked to it. Follow one back to the strainer and pump.

If it is built in to the boat, it needs sea water to run. The sillcock should be in a compartment under the rear mattress right behind the steps. Make sure that is open, turn the unit on, and the water should start pumping out the side.

Seacock is right in front of rear berth round plastic acces panel turn it to the left to open. The pump is on the starboard side in rear berth look for the cold air return its right there. Make sure the drain in the pan is clean or you will get a wet mattress

Definitely, if it is a marine unit, it needs sea water to cool (or heat) the refrigerant. As JC says, you need to find the seacock, on most rinkers it's in the mid-berth under the mattress.
