Engine scan for hours?

I have a carbed '93 454mag in my boat and have an hour meter on the engine cover. Apparently they aren't as accurate as an engine scan. Is my boat too old to be scanned?

I believe so if it has a Carb and not fuel injected.

I read somewhere that if you have a Thunderbolt V Ignition, you should be able to scan the hours.

Nevermind i think i have thunderbolt IV ignition. It says that V is 96 and up.
