First long run of the summer to Catalina

After all the work and money spent this year, it was time for a longer cruise as a "shakedown" on the new Ocean X drive and gas tank. She ("Skiver") ran great, there and back, a total of 65 miles. A decent sea state, but the outbound trip is "uphill" due to the prevailing current and moderate swell.  The return trip this morning was much easier, 30 mph cruise the whole way.

My son and I spent a night moored in Avalon, great fun and at $31 a relative bargain.  The only issue was the fuel gauge, wildly inaccurate to say the least, it made me nervous showing only a quarter tank when I knew there was at least forty gallons left. Need an upgrade! The weather was weird, very muggy. I almost wanted to fire up the generator and run the A/C!
You can see in the photo there were a few bigger boats around.

They might be bigger but not a nice looking as your Rinker :-)

I agree Rinker boats are very nice looking. Glad everything worked out for you. BTW never ever trust a fuel gauge on a boat. Always know how many hours you have on a tank of gas and remember the 1/3 rule.

The yacht in front of me had a large RIB dinghy on the upper deck, but no crane. I was curious how he launches it. A good shove maybe?

Andy, that boat is NOT a Rinker - it's probably an old sea ray. In that case the dinghy is probably just an escape pod for when the sr sinks ...it just floats off LOL

Depends on how the boat sinks. Stern first (which is very possible), the dinghy ends up stuck in the fly bridge and sinks with the boat.
