Behind the mirror is a plywood bulkhead. It is a real pita to get at. You can get a long extension with a universal thru the horn cut out or with a lot of luck, thru the deck plate behind the panel below the mirror. Good luck.
The whole front piece has to come off in order to get the mirror off (it'snot really that hard), at least it does on my 05 342. Just below the mirror, there is an upholstered piece that pulls out. Behind that is a deck plate, unscrew that and you'll have access, it's very limited and you can't see very well but you have access.
On our boat, removing the mirror did not provide any access, I had to cut the upholstery and then jig saw a hole.
