Your going to be drilling a very large hole in the hull. Then your going to have to do a lot of glass work. This is a major project. You should try looking on youtube first to see what your getting yourself into. Good luck and keep us posted......

Swede. You can google Hurst Marina then navigate to their service website. On that website there is a video of the prep work being done for a bow thruster. Can you do this yourself? Yes, if you are so inclined. I don't know how much money you would save after renting the tools and paying retail for the thruster, batteries and controls. A friend priced all of it out and found he was going to save about $1,500.00. He decided it was not worth it and paid a professional. I have seen Hurst Marine do one of these jobs. It is a LOT of complicated work.
The PO installed the thruster and the boat is still in
the water. Can't measure. My guess is that the upper part of the tube is about 15 cm (6 inch)
below the water line. Three pics attached as reference.
Have never had problems with the thruster loosing grip
even rough sea.
I’m not
sure if this will help you in Canada, but anyway:
The installation
were done here in Sweden in 2012 by the previous
owner. I have no knowledge of the labour cost
for the installation but the cost for the equipment was roughly 1400 USD, back then.
Mark. I see that having a bow thruster on your boat still hunt you has you know I had mine done in Alexandria bay N.Y. For a price that was lot better then any places in Ontario or Québec . but now with the CDN $ at almost 30% less it would not be a big saving. Paul
I stopped thinking about it because I heard a few people saying the 270 would be too small for it, but now I see a 250FV with it on?? I have a 260EC - not sure if there's enough room.
MarkB, It moves the bow verry well even in heavy side wind. Below you'll find two pics with specs from a SidePower broschure i have. In it I believe you'll find what you were asking for. (the SE40) I have also uploaded the entire SidePower PDF (from 2014) to my dropbox : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5k9w770gy1j1hxz/AACIf9C0edAKgOh6gyeTRK_1a?dl=0 I'll keep it available there for a about a week.
Mark, actually I don't know who did the work, my friend was looking at this boat, but I guess if yo contact the seller you could find who did the installation. It was on boats.com the seller is

Swede:
Are you really sure that you need to place it under the floor?
In mine, only a 250 (2003), the thruster is installed in the most forward storage compartment. The thruster is a Side-Power SE40s.
No need to remove the floor and easy to access, service and most of all, inspect. Well below the water line in order to work efficiently.
Two pics for illustration.
No problem when its blowing Pam?
It would be perfect if its fits in the same place .
I looking to same side-power. how long under the waterline ?

Does it work? Does it move the bow well?
Do you know what size motor that is?
Looks like a great job.
