04 fiesta vee 270 shower sump

replaced the sump box , it only pees out the side of boat , like a check valve went bad . box over fills and leaks into hull, any ideas

I would blow some air or use a pipe cleaner to clean the drain line, sounds like you have a clog.

air will go in and out with ease however the water will not

I was getting a hydro lock in my shower sump.  If I pulled the pump out of the box and plugged it back in it would start working again.  I was planning to put in a check valve to address it.

Maybe make sure the drain hose doesn't have any kinks or coils in it or is running up hill?  I know you can't see much of it.

I would avoid a check valve. That pump will not have the pressure to open it. It will get crudded up and stick too. 

You might go looking for leaks and kinks.

yes,it should work the way it is installed so finding the problem is for sure the solution!
