2008 Rinker Express Cruiser 260. Have tried opening engine hatch several times. Hatch starts moving very slowly then quickly trips breaker. Any help ideas greatly appreciated.

Is anything binding? My friend had this problem on very hot days. the engine hatch had not been "trimmed" quite right at the factory and on hot days the hatch expanded a bit caused binding and tripped his breaker. When my new 2014  EC 360 arrived at the dealer the techs felt the engine hatch was binding so they took a grinder to it and a few hours later it shut much better. IF anyone decides it is necessary to grind down some of the fiberglass to make your hatch fit better you MUST vacuum-up every bit of the dust because if that fiberglass dust finds its way into your engine(s) they're dead! Also - check your grounds first. A loose ground or a corroded connection can flip a breaker real fast. Another potential cause could be that your actuator may be dying and overheating causing a trip.

Thanks. Nothing appears to be binding. Checked the wiring connections and they look ok. Hatch still goes up and down but moves very slowly and trips breaker 3-4 times each way. Should I unhook the pin in case it dies completely?

Too bad you do not have a DC amp meter
