Smartcraft lite?

When I was having Vessel View installed it looked like the multi function gauges had a plug that resembles smartcraft.  Has anybody played with these?  The reason I ask is that I'd like to get fuel tank info on my Vessel View.  If I can take advantage of the existing connection it would make things more simple.

Your engine's harness has plugs for tank level, which would then go into VV.  But you'd have to add a compatible tank sensor.

So the multi function gauges are not smartcraft?

The standard Faria gauge set is all analog. I'm not sure what the plug is that you mentioned.

Smartcraft makes a multifunction 4 in 1, as well as multiple other gauges. I have one. To get fuel level, you need to change the fuel sending unit. The analog one that works with the faria gauge does not work with the smartcraft 4 in 1.  Mine is in, and plugged into my Smarcraft Tach System gauge. Everything works fine, I have oil pressure, temp, fuel level and battery voltage. Exact replacement for the Faria 4 in 1.

I was able to get a cable that converts the analogue signal from the tank sensors and convert it to digital for the VV to compute it. So you know, the VV computes it, however, there is a lag of about 20 seconds on start up which causes an initial sensor code error that gets corrected 20 seconds in. Works great. You can add the amount of fuel on refill and it compute fuel burn, GPH, Eco, plus the obvious amount of fuel

Jaubry, if you have the part number for that cable I'd be interested.  Fuel tank sensor is the one thing I don't have connected with my VV (well, generator isn't yet either).

After my Oil pressure gauge starting freaking out this past weekend, I decided this winter I am investing in a nice 4 in 1 Smartcraft gauge. Anyone know of a dealer/installer around Lake St Clair (Michigan) that I can speak with about installing/getting parts from?

Dave Blaz did mine.  I got my vessel view on ebay from a guy who didn't know it wouldn't work on engines older than 2002.

You can use existing senders but have to disconnect the output wire and run 2 new wires to connector on the motor.It will disable the analog gauge but i installed the smartcraft gauge in dash took out the Faria set.The diagram is in the Mercury Smartcraft application and display products manual
