HVAC and Generator By-Pass Device.

You guys might find this interesting. After my fun experience last year priming my HVAC (think enema) I decided to come-up with a better way. I think I did. I made a device that I can use to pressurize the HVAC and (I think) the generator too, As we all know, when we change a strainer for machinery in our boats we often lose prime and it can be a challenge to re-prime the unit in question. So, I spliced a T into the water line after the seacock on the HVAC water supply line BEFORE (of course) the pump. The upper part of the T leads to a ball valve that has a hose with a female garden hose fitting attached to it. I can use that fitting to pressurize the HVAC with water from shore or the raw water sea pump on the boat or attach a piece of garden hose to it to suck antifreeze right out of a gallon jug for winterizing. Super fast and clean. I have already tested it to restore prime after cleaning the strainer for the HVAC. That took about 2 minutes :-) Yes, you can buy premade units that will do the same thing but they are plastic ( and according to my marina last about 3 years before they break) and very expensive. This is just a couple of barbed T's, some rigid hose, a few clamps, a brass ball valve and a garden hose fitting - simple and strong. For the generator I am replacing the plastic strainer for the through hull sea water feed (that often leaks) with a heavy duty strainer that is oem for Mastercraft boats. It is a Forespar Products Water Strainer Model T-150. I have fabricated and will add the same bypass T unit to the generator water supply line as I did on the HVAC and (fingers crossed) hope it works as well. I have pictures but haven't had much luck getting my windows 7 to co-operate with the program of the forum.
