Recently replaced my antenna and was working fine but stopped. I hit it pretty hard going under a bridge...what kind of abuse can they stand. I can't really tie not working to hitting it, it stopped working at some point, worked and now no sound. I checked the connections.

You're talking about a typical 8-foot fiberglass antenna mast?  They are fairly tough.  I once hit mine on a bridge and had a 12" section bent back 90 degrees.  After I taped it with a wood splint, the radio would still transmit and receive.

well, so much for that idea then.....I just hate to replace the whole system which would probably be cheaper than taking it somewhere where they could actually figure it out....I don't use it that much but do need it...and in case of emergency for sure....hmmmm, guess I will pull the radio and see if I can find somewhere to test it, the antenna is "new". Thx.
