trim tab indicator problem

my 2005 fiesta vee 300 outdrive trim gauge is not responding on starboard engine. is this a common faria gauge issue? is there a connection to be checked as the usual tapping does not prodice ant improved response?

It could be the sending unit that is on the side of the drive that has gone bad. To make sure the gauge is working, you could connect it to the port engine sending wire.
