Windshield Wiper Arm

I own a 320. Has anyone taken off the wiper arm? I do not want to break or bend it. I want to repaint it during the winter while the boat is covered.

I am thinking about painting mine as well. It drives me nuts that the black paint has faded off. There should be a clip at the base that you remove to pull it off. Just like an automobile wiper.

Why wouldn't you just tape down some newspaper under the arm, and all around then brush paint it with gloss enamel self priming paint?

Mark-I thought of that but am afraid the paint will chip at the hinge when I raise the arm to put my cockpit cover on.

The paint that is used on most boat windshield wipers is flat black. I would use a flat black spray paint to avoid glare coming off it on a sunny day.

Gloss would look nicer. Not sure if glare would be a real problem due to the angle of the wiper blade and arm.

i have had great success with the high temp paint spray can for less than 5 bucks. dries allmost instantly and is easy to touch up with no prep if needed.

I would use something from Duplicolor, the automotive paint retouch material in auto supply stores.  They have self-etching primers, gloss and flat black which should resist UV fading better than most household spray paints.

I took the paint off my wiper and polished the arm. It looks really good.  I don't worry about the glare (the sun rarely shines in the UK)
