Fixing seats

SeaHareSeaHare Member Posts: 189 ✭✭✭
When Rinker built the seats cushions they ran a million staples along the back edge to secure the vinyl. The material on the back on the cushion is plastic and inevitably the plastic breaks along these nice long perforations.... any ideas on how to fix this up? Most of my cushions are broke on the back about an inch from the end.

You may have to purchase some new starboard backing and use fewer (SS) staples when you put the foam and vinyl back on. If this is too daunting remove the staples, cut the new starboard yourself (you can do that) and keep the foam and vinyl for each seat together to make it a lot easier for a marine/auto upholstery tech put the foam and covers back on. I do not know of any long-lasting way to repair what you have described. Maybe someone else on the forum has a better idea?
