If you want to "grease" an electrical connection properly, IMO, may I recommend dielectric "grease". It will not interfere with electrical conductivity, in fact it should enhance it.
I remove my drain plug every time I pull the boat since I only leave it in the water if I'm going to use it multiple days in a row (I have a slip and a rack at my marina). Mine is brass I think (lighter color and more shiny than his).. should I be using something on it? I usually have no water, or maybe a tiny bit in the bilge when I do remove it. -=Mike G.
I use a couple of wraps of Teflon tape to ensure no leaking easy removal but that's for a yearly removal. If you're removing the plug frequently I don't see an issue as long as you're careful not to cross thread it.
