    I suppose you can as long as it's ground properly and you have contact. Only thing is you are forcing the current through that piece, and not sure if you can hurt some sensitive electronics along the way?? I would much rather just put the black on the negative battery post.

    Thanks Mark.  Thats what I was thinking but the instructions read "if negatively grounded do not put on negative terminal".

    Why not??? I can't understand that. Does it say why they have that warning?
