Normal tach readings

I just bought a 99 Fiesta Vee 270 with a 5.7 liter bravo 3. Was wondering what normal tach readings are at idle and cruising. I think my tach is off.

You have the standard "tap tap tap" tachometer by Faria.  Try the triple tap and see if it helps.  There is another posting about getting these fixed under the warranty (lifetime).

The boat should idle between 650 and 850 rpm. My 2004 250 with a Volo Penta 5.7 DP runs 5000 rpm at full throttle, I hope this helps

Make sure the tach is set for 8 cylinder.  Many tachs have a 4,6 and 8 cyclinder setting.  Of course that is if it is reading very high
